Very neat and tidy cafe with reasonably priced all day breakfasts with a great range of extras and a good range of meals for any other time, licensed as well with good dinner specials. Lovely staff as well.

I literally can't fault my uber order this morning. Pulled pork burger and chips.. with a side of aioli and Chipotle (I asked for one) they just three the sauce in the legends! The chips were 10/10 the burger was 10/10. Someone really loves their job! Will be back!

Great place with a really nice staff. We came in less than an one hour before closing time, but we still were invited to sit and order from the menu. The price and portions for the food and drinks is also reasonable. We were two adults and a toddler and we ordered the Salmon Avocado Salad (ok but not more) and nachos which were great. Overall I can recommend this place for a quick bite or even for a full sit down meal.

Worst beef burgers you will ever have in your life.

Called ahead and spoke to server. Advised we had an entertainment book but did not have the paper voucher with us only the card and the app. Server advised no problem. Had our meal and went to pay. I advised we had helped ourselves to second beverage from fridge that wasnt on the bill. Chef/cashier/owner told us we had to have the paper voucher. Would not accept that the lady on the phone said it was ok. Very disappointed with the attitude and delivery of his message. As for the food. The cheesy fries were really nice as was the choc brownie milkshake. The burger was not brilliant - lacked seasoning and flavour was a bit light on. My partner enjoyed the breakfast but the haloumi was rubbery and overcooked. If not for the attitude probably would have gone back and given them a second chance as we'd heard good things before going.

I had the Salmon with a lemon and white wine sauce and salad. It was cooked beautifully and the salas was very fresh. The staff were very efficient and polite. I will certainly go back.

Third time I've had a burger from Brown Sugar (Soon to be renamed Brown Burger).I was 90% of the way through before it occurred to me to take a photo. Quite rightly popular, 3 Uber eats were picked up in the 30 minutes I was there. The food is fresh, serves sizeable and the service prompt and friendly.

The coffee and food here are both great, and the staff are really friendly and genuine. Would definitely recommend for brunch with families and friends!!!🤗🤗

While the place may not be the most stylish/trendy venue and food presentation isn't the best it could be; if you're looking for great tasting food in large sizes and great value, can you go past Brown Sugar? The staff were quite friendly and service was extremely prompt both in taking orders, food being served and having plates cleared. They're reusable cup friendly too for those wanting a good takeaway drink experience and nothing seemed to be a problem while we were there. The biggest weakness of Brown Sugar would be for those with mobility issues since the external door is on a hinge and is reasonably narrow, although there is a ramp leading up to the bottom tier of Brown Sugar where the counter is as well as a few tables. I suggest walking to Black Sugar since parking in Moonah can be problematic during peak periods of Moonah business times. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area or want good wholesome food at a reasonable price

Burgers could be the best in Hobart. Reading some of the reviews here and can’t understand how people can be so picky. It’s a great, clean and tidy cafe with friendly staff. It’s not trying to be anything more than that. If you want nice food then you won’t be disappointed.

Brown Sugar is a small place in Moonah. It's a traditional style cafe setup, comfortable and easy going.But the food is nothing like you would expect from a "cafe". We go there for lunch every now and then and its always good. I'm writing this review and as I typed it "have the american burger" my mouth started to water.They have burgers, toasties, milkshakes (gangster!), great breakfast egg dishes too.It's really good, and the staff are very attentive and pleasant, if you are in the area looking for a bite to eat, check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Hey there. Awesome. Thank you. Was going to go to a burger place in North hobart but saw this place. Took a chance and you have exceeded my expectations. Half the price of where I was going to go and quicker. It is what it is. If you want a nice portion and care put into the food then I suggest try them. Get a web page.

Have now visited twice within the year. It's not that different. Well appointed seating. Make Sure you get what you order! I had pancakes. Hubby had toasted pitted. Both nice!

The handmade hamburger was delicious, but the worker(maybe the owner...? I don't know) was not kind.

Great breakfast - omlette and potato rosti were delicious! Looks like a tiny takeaway shop from the outside but worth the visit once you get inside.

I've been multiple times and the staff have always been super friendly. Good coffee - small wait on the drinks, especially if ordering juice but good reviews on the flavour. Ordered the big breakfast today and was really happy with it. Well recommended as it's normally pretty quiet compared to the rest of the Moonah strip
